NEW GOVERNMENT FUNDING FOR TRAINING AVAILABLE FROM 01 APRIL 2011

New government funding is available for training provided by Spearhead. As with all funding there are strict eligibility criteria – these are set out below.

If you think you qualify for funding, then we can help you access the grants. To do this, Spearhead  has linked with Decipher UK Ltd. This organisation specialises in working with regional grant providers to administer grants currently available. Decipher will  guide you through the application process to help you access the funding. There is no charge for this service.

1. TRAINING GRANT FUNDING FROM THE LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT ADVISORY SERVICE (LMAS)

Successful applicants can claim up to a maximum of £1,000 from the LMAS for management and leadership training provided by Spearhead Training.

The amount of grant awarded by the LMAS must be fully matched £ for £ by the applicant’s organisation.

For example:

• If the training programme costs £1,000 + VAT, the client may claim back £500
• If the training programme costs £2,500 + VAT, the client may claim back £1,000

Organisations will not be able to reclaim VAT from the LMAS.

The funding will not cover incidental costs e.g. accommodation or travel.

Eligibility Criteria:

1.    Businesses must be able to demonstrate the potential for high or fast growth. This is defined as either:
(a) An existing business that can be expected to increase turnover by 20% or more for each of the next 3 years
(b) A new business (less than 1 year old) that can be expected to reach a turnover of £500,000 or more in three year’s time The Government estimates that around 10% of all businesses can meet these criteria.

2.    The beneficiaries of the training should be businesses/organisations employing between 2 and 249 full-time equivalent employees.
(a) For organisations employing less than 50 staff, only the owner, CEO or equivalent can access the funding.
(b) For organisations employing 50-249 staff, key directors/key managers who report directly to the most senior person and have strategic responsibility for the business are also eligible.
 
You are NOT eligible for funding if any of the following apply:

1.    Businesses/organisations that have previously been supported through LMAS.
2.    Public Sector organisations (including Local Authority controlled schools).
3.    Individuals from outside the EU who have not lived in the EU for the last 3 years.
4.    Businesses employing less than 2 or more than 250 people.
5.    Businesses that cannot demonstrate high or fast growth potential.

2. GRANTS FOR MANUFACTURING ORGANISATIONS.

There are some grants available nationally for companies involved in manufacturing. These grants are generally match funded, i.e. the grant must be matched by an £ for £ by the organisation.

Eligibility criteria vary by region. If you are a manufacturing company and want to apply for funding, we will pass your details to Decipher and they will advise you on what is available and whether you meet the criteria.
